Bone tissue is a mineralized and viscous-elastic connective tissue that performs critical roles in our bodies such as tissue support and protection, as well as mineral storage. Bone can adapt by remodelling itself, which is governed by its cells and numerous local and systemic influences. Different loading grades have an effect on the mechanical characteristics of bone tissue. The extracellular matrix contains collagen, which gives bone its suppleness. Bone is, however, a brittle structure that is affected by loading and mineral content, which also strengthens the bone.
