WBCHSE Physics Practical Syllabus | West Bengal Board HS Curriculum | Labkafe

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, or WBCHSE, has released its syllabus for classes XI and XII for the present and coming year. So we are presenting here the WBCHSE physics practical syllabus for classes 11 & 12. Students can study the syllabus to see which of the HS physics practicals they have completed or not, and which of them they need to practice on.

WBCHSE Physics Practicals

All of these experiments described here in this syllabus are covered in our West Bengal Board (WBCHSE) Physics Practical Package. This package has all the laboratory equipment, apparatus, glassware, instruments, charts, support items and everything else you may need to demonstrate and perform these experiments successfully.

There are a total of 20 experiments or practical exercises listed in the West Bengal board higher secondary physics syllabus divided in two sections, A & B. A student would have to learn to perform 8 items from the A section and 8 items from the section B. That was for practical classes. But in the practical examination, a student will have to do two experiments from each section.

WBCHSE Physics Practical Syllabus: Section A

  1. To measure the diameter of a small spherical or cylindrical body using vernier calipers.
  2. To measure the internal diameter and the depth of a given beaker or calorimeter using vernier calipers and thereby find out its volume.
  3. To measure the diameter of a given wire using a screw gauge.
  4. To measure the thickness of a given sheet using a screw gauge.
  5. To measure the volume of an irregular lamina using a screw gauge.
  6. To determine the radius of curvature of a given spherical surface by a spherometer.
  7. To find the weight of a given body using the parallelogram law of vectors.
  8. To plot L-T  and L-T2 graphs using a simple pendulum, and using the graphs, find the effective length of second’s pendulum.
  9. To study the relationship between force of limiting friction and normal reaction and to find the coefficient of friction between a block and a horizontal surface.
  10. To find the downward force along an inclined plane acting on a roller due to gravitational pull of the earth. Hence study its relationship with the angle of inclination by plotting a graph between the force and the sine of the angle.

WBCHSE Physics Practical Syllabus: Section B

  1. To determine the Young’s modulus of elasticity of the material of a given wire.
  2. To find the force constant of a helical spring by plotting a graph between the load and the extension due to the load.
  3. To study the variation in volume with pressure for a sample of air at constant temperature by plotting graphs between P and V and between P and I/V.
  4. To determine the surface tension of water using capillary rise method.
  5. To determine the coefficient of viscosity of a given viscous liquid by measuring terminal velocity of a given spherical body.
  6. To study the relation between the temperature of a hot body and time by plotting a cooling curve.
  7. To determine the specific heat of a given solid and a given liquid by method of mixtures.
  8. To study the relationship between the frequency and length of a given wire under constant tension using a sonometer.
  9. To study the relationship between the length of a given wire and the tension applied on it under constant frequency using a sonometer.
  10. To find the speed of sound in air at room temperature using a resonance tube by using two resonance positions.

The above experiments are in the West Bengal board physics practical syllabus. With the HS examinations coming around the corner, the students will find this list of practicals very useful. The official website of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education is wbchse.nic.in, you can refer to that website for the official information about Bengal board HS exams.

All these experiments can be performed using items from Labkafe’s West Bengal Board (WBCHSE) Physics Lab Equipment Package. We have all the instruments, apparatus, glassware, consumables, and support items you may need to perform these activities.
